The exhibition took place at the Regional Museum in Suwałki as part of the Wierusz-Kowalski Family Reunion, held in Suwałki on September 14th and 15th, 2019. The participants were representatives of the family line from which the painter Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski (1849–1915) descends.

The idea for organizing the gathering arose largely from the desire to meet the descendants of this family, whose roots stretch back to the 13th century, and to seek sources of knowledge about its history — including its present-day story. An equally important aspect was simply the wish to bring together and give the opportunity to connect with one another the members of a family scattered across the entire world.
