Two times two is four

The exhibition title, in a simplified yet metaphorical way, suggests the universality of laws that are eternally true. The universal truth of the visible world stems from the laws of nature, thanks to which perfect geometric forms appear before us in a harmonious, logical, masterfully designed natural world. The artist consistently uses the language of geometry, drawing on basic forms present in nature. She also invites light and shadow into the construction of her geometric paintings, introducing an element of depth as an additional means of expression.
Wierusz-Kowalska’s paintings, far removed from commenting on current reality, are not weighed down by theory. Simple means of expression serve as a counterbalance to the omnipresent excess and overproduction that so often appear in contemporary art.
